A couple of weeks ago the symbolic passing of the torch in the Olympics took place. It reminded me of my life because I can say that I’m in a similar situation to the passing of the torch. It is symbolic for passing of responsibilities and an avenue for new beginnings. Lately I haven’t gone online. It’s because of my increased obligations in debate, YFC, as a fourth year student, to my family, friends, and last but not the least to myself. Finally I got to set up a time to update my blog. Yes, I’m still alive and kicking. As we go along, I’ll give you a summary of what had happened during the unrecorded events of my life. I’m really into debating as of the moment. I’ve learned that there are a lot of things that I need to improve on my debating skills. It only proves that I’m a mortal being. The conflicts between my routine are really becoming a pain in the ass. I find it really hard to divide my time and effort. Mostly YFC meetings would clash with my debate training. I love both and I can’t ignore both of these organizations. To add insult to injury its hard to prioritize one of them knowing that I’m the new chapter head in CTK and I’m the new Deputy Prime minister in the Claretian Debate society. However both are enjoyable and provide an avenue to mold myself into becoming a better person. In debate I’ve grown as person because became aware of the things that are happening in our world today. It makes me want to fight the root of all problems which is known to everyone as ignorance. Imagine if we could eliminate ignorance! It would be a great world , isn’t it? Another thing that debate has given me is confidence. It gave me the confidence to stand for what I believe in and to voice out my opinions. It taught me that the world is really big and sometimes I could be the voice of the subjugated. It taught me things that you can’t learn in the classroom. For example, riding the LRT and pedicab. I’ve learned it from my friends in debate. Debating has taught me how to mingle with people and to listen. It taught me that there is always room for improvement and that it takes perseverance to become successful. I’ve come to realize that it’s not about winning! It’s about what you’ve learned and how you can strive to develop. More importantly, I became skilled at debating with honor. In YFC, I’ve learned that through God nothing is impossible. It taught me to be happy because I’m free from the bondage of sin. Through it I’ve learned the greatness of the Lord. Imagine such an order in the universe, that if the earth moves at a fraction of .00001 cm towards the sun, there would be tidal waves, disasters and abnormalities in nature. Our God is so good because you’ll definitely know that there is a guiding hand to secure us. YFC taught me that there is someone who loves me unconditionally. I have so much to thank for because of YFC.
I like to take this time to thank the people that have touched my life and made me a better person.
